Address Update Form
We want to be able to keep in touch with you and learn when and where you get your first job, the promotions along the way, as well as other significant events in your life. We have developed a College of Engineering alumni database which is helping us tremendously in this effort, but it is useless unless we can keep it up to date. Press here for an update form. top

Funds, Endowed Gifts, and Bequests

  • Endowed Alumni Scholarship Fund and Endowed Alumni Laboratory Development FundPledges from 1 to 5 years in any amount from $25 to $2,000, including company matching, may be made to either of these two funds. Gifts of $2,000 or more are recognized with a brass plate in the "Hall of Honor" in the CEBA building. The plate identifies the donor, the degree earned, and the date of graduation. Earnings on these funds are used to award scholarships and keep laboratories up-to-date. More than 350 such plates are now on Alumni Endownment Display.
  • Endowed Titled Scholarship Fund
A gift of $20,000 or more over several years will create a scholarship fund in the alumnus' name and may be structured largely to his/her wishes. More than 35 scholarship funds have been created ranging from $20,000 to more than $1,000,000 each.

  • Endowed Professorships, Distinguished Professorships, and Chairs
    • An Endowed Professorship of Engineering of $100,000 can be created over a period of years by contributing a total of $60,000, including company matching funds. The remaining $40,000 will be added by the State Board of Regents Support Fund. The professorship will bear the name of the donor or any other person he/she designates. Earnings will only be used to supplement the salary of the professor selected for the professorship. The College has more than 59 such professorships.
    • The Endowed Distinguished Professorship of $200,000 or more can be created and used to supplement the salary of a distinguished professor. Each will be matched on a 60% private and 40% public basis. The College now has 21 such professorships ranging from over $200,000 to $700,000.
    • Endowed Chairs may be created for $1 million with $400,000 provided through the Eminent Scholars Fund. Earnings provide funds to support an Eminent Scholar in the field selected. The College has 12 such chairs. top
  • Charitable Remainder Funds and Bequests
A Charitable Remainder Trust is a means by which one may give a large amount to the College while retaining the earnings on that gift up to 8% per year for life. The gift only goes to the College at his/her or respective spouse's death. The earnings may also be used to purchase life insurance to be paid to a designated beneficiary, thereby making a gift to charity and to one's heirs. A gift of paid life insurance policies which are no longer needed by the alumnus is another option some alumni have used. A favorite option for some is a gift of appreciated stocks or real estate, for it avoids capital gains and estate taxes while benefiting the College. Such gifts may be used to finance scholarship funds, professorships, or any other purpose selected by the alumnus. Finally, a bequest in a will is another favorite for many alumni and may be designated to be used however the alumnus wishes. top
