Freshmen
New Freshmen are considered for admission based on their
likelihood.of success at LSU. Admissions criteria are based
on High school gpa, required course units and ACT/SAT scores.
Re-entry
Students
Re-entry student applications are evaluated on an individual
basis. Students who have been dropped from the university
must have their applications approved by the dean's office
along with the department for which they are applying. Certain
conditions may be placed on the reinstatement.
Transfer
Students
Students who have taken all or part of their academic coursework
at other institutions may be considered for admission if
they have an overall 2.5 gpa or better on all college work
attempted, including a college-level course in English and
in Mathematics.

General
Information
- Transfer credits accepted
by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions shall be valid
for degree credit only to the extent to which they satisfy
courses in the curricula of the college.
- Transfer credits in
Junior and Senior Engineering courses will be accepted
only if taken in programs accredited by the Accreditation
Board for Engineering and Technology.
- Credit in courses in
which grades of 'D' have been earned is not accepted
for transfer toward the degree requirements, if the
course is taken outside of the LSU System.
- Students enrolled in
this college who wish to obtain credits from other colleges
or universities (including those in the LSU system)
and who plan to use such credits toward degree requirements
should obtain prior approval in writing on a specific
course from the Dean.
Residency
Requirements
- All students must sucessfully
complete a minimum of 30 hours of departmentaly approved
courses while in their major department.
- These 30 hours must
include 15 hours of required engineering courses or
approved technical electives at the 3000 or 4000 level.
Nine (9) hours of these must be at the 4000 level in
the major.
