Incoming Freshman Pegues Scholarships

Eligibility for Scholarships:

  1. To be eligible for a college scholarship, new freshmen students must have completed the LSU application for admission, have sent at least one set of ACT or SAT scores to LSU, and have sent their current high school transcript to LSU by December 15th.
  2. Students are required to indicate Engineering as their intended major on the Admissions application.
  3. Students who plan to major in engineering will be ranked by the following formula: 30% Math ACT +30% Science ACT + 40% GPA. SAT scores will also be considered. Math and science scores must be from the same test. Based on these results, students may be invited to submit an application.

Pegues Scholarship Requirements:

  1. The student must be an Engineering Major and a full time student (minimum 12 hours per semester).
  2. These scholarships are $500/year ( $250.00 per semester) for the freshman year. The number of scholarships varies each year depending on availability of funding.
  3. If the student continues to follow an engineering curriculum, a recipient can maintain the scholarship for a total of four years (renewable based on student's grades and availability of funding) and can increase the scholarship to $1,000.00 per year or $500.00 per semester.

The Craft & Hawkins Petroleum Engineering Department also offer separate freshman scholarships. Please contact Fred Thurber for more information: fthurbe@lsu.edu, (225) 578-6058.
